HR&P proudly honors our military service members by sponsoring the football Military Salute of the Game before the University of Houston’s Coogs took on SFA.
To kick off the first game of the season against Stephen F. Austin, Melissa Gutierrez was proudly recognized by a standing ovation during the HR&P Military Salute. She is a true example of service and Cougar pride!
Melissa served in the United States Air Force for eight years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-5). As a mechanic in Aerospace Ground Equipment, her dedication and skill helped keep missions running strong. Throughout her career, she earned numerous honors, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
Melissa attended the University of Houston, where she earned both her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She stood on the field as a proud alum and a role model for her community.
Melissa was joined by her husband, Stephen; her sons, Anakin and Austin; her daughter, Kayla; and her mother, Victoria. Together, they represent the strength of military families and the spirit of Cougar Nation.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Melissa and to all who have served our country. Thank you, Air Force Staff Sergeant E-5 Melissa Gutierrez!
